Uptick in unemployment for GA

Georgia’s unemployment rate was up again slightly in the latest. The preliminary July number is 7.8 percent, that compares to 6.2 across the country, and is an increase of 4 tenths from June’s 7. 4 percent. State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler says that does not mean the economy is crashing. He says most of the job losses were temporary seasonal workers, and many of them have gone back to work.
Butler is finding good news in private sector job creation. During July government shed over 21,000 jobs, but the private sector added and created over 8,000 jobs.
